Loving being active

Catch me if you can.....

I loved my job and the thought of retirement was far from my mind.  I dreaded it. I've always enjoyed exercise, running most of my life. Most weeks I did yoga, biked, a hill walk and a swim. I was fit enough and slim. Things started changing for me when I had a heart attack on a camping holiday in 2021, ambulanced to Nelson Hospital and had a stent put in.

Six months later, a second heart attack, not so severe. Around the same time I was diagnosed with Parkinson's. So roughly 2 1/2 years ago. Believe it or not it was a relief to be diagnosed with Parkinson's as I had a strong right hand tremor which worried me and I didn’t know what it was. Medication helped me mentally and physically with the tremor being less obvious. But I wasn’t well enough to be at work and colleagues noticed a decline in my communication and mental state. Unfortunately I had to retire at 63!

I received lots of encouragement and support from my wife and we planned lots of activities, mental, physical and social to delay Parkinsonism. I continued with my fitness activities, BUT when I walked my right arm didn’t move. My wife works at a medical centre and was advised by one of the GP’s that cGP may be beneficial in the management of Parkinson’s symptoms.

I was happy to try anything and the fact that it had no side-effects and was completely natural was a big plus. After about three months using cGP, my wife and I were out walking. I was slightly ahead of her and suddenly she called out to me loudly! I immediately thought something was wrong. But it was just the opposite. She said “Garry, you’re moving your right arm freely!” I hadn’t even noticed. This was such a wonderful surprise for me and the only thing I can put this down to is the cGP supplement.

My speech has also showed some improvement and I feel well.  It’s six weeks later and I’m pleased to notice that my arm swings even more freely now.
